1974 TRIUMPH TR-6 CONVERTIBLE

1974 TRIUMPH TR-6 CONVERTIBLE BEAUTIFUL RESTORATION JUST COMPLETED! ONLY 79,691 ORIGINAL MILES! LAST YEAR FOR THIS DESIRED MODEL! TRULY A COLLECTOR’S DREAM!
1974 TRIUMPH TR-6 CONVERTIBLE
Finished in classic and desired English White with beautiful Sable Brown interior and Black convertible top. This incredible motorcar has been beautifully restored and is now ready to be shown or driven. We are proud to offer this exquisite TR-6 to the most particular collector, investor or enthusiast who desires the best. Bid with confidence – you will not be disappointed in this truly wonderful motorcar! HISTORY OF THE TRIUMPH TR-6: The Triumph TR6 (1969–76) was a British six-cylinder sports car and the best-seller of the TR range built by Triumph when production ended in July 1976. This record was then surpassed by the TR7. Overall, 94,619 TR6s were built, of which 86,249 found homes overseas, only 8,370 being sold in the UK. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the Triumph TR5, but the front and back ends were squared off, reportedly based on a consultancy contract involving Karmann. All TR6 sports cars featured inline six-cylinder engines. For the US market the engine was carburetted, as had been the US-only TR250 model’s engine. For other world markets, including the United Kingdom, the TR6 was fuel-injected, therefore TR6PI (petrol injection), as had been the non-US market TR5. The Lucas mechanical fuel injection system helped the home-market TR6 produce 150 bhp (112 kW) at model introduction. Later the non-US TR6 variant was detuned to 125 bhp (93 kW) in order for it to be easier to drive, while the US-variant continued to be carburetted with a mere (but more reliable) 104 hp (78 kW). The TR6 featured a four-speed manual transmission. An optional equipment overdrive unit was a desirable feature because it gave drivers close-gearing for aggressive driving with overdrive available on 2nd, 3rd and top gears on early models, yet “long legs” for open motorways. TR6 also featured semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, fifteen inch (381 mm) wheels and tires, pile carpet on floors and trunk/boot, bucket seats, and a full complement of instrumentation. Braking was accomplished by disc brakes in the front; drum brakes in the rear. A factory steel hard top was optional. TR6 construction was fundamentally old-fashioned: the body was bolted onto a frame instead of the two being integrated into a unibody structure; the TR6 dashboard was wooden (plywood w/ veneer). The TR6 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds and has top speed of 120 mph (190 km/h) according to Autocar magazine.

1974 TRIUMPH TR-6 ROADSTER

<div “replaced A800000_4_tnr”>

Considered by many to be the most appealing of the T-series Triumphs, the TR6 was first brought to market in 1968. While the TR6 was heavily influenced by its predecessor, the new model was extensively restyled by Karmann. Triumph upgraded the suspension and added wider 15” wheels that resulted in a leaner look with a lower stance and improved handling. Power was derived from a 2.5 litre straight-6 with twin carburetors that provided over 100hp. A walnut wood dash held the instruments and front disc brakes were a standard feature. A joy to drive both then and now, the TR6 very often ranks high on British sports car lists. Their iconic style and sporty characteristics appeal to some of the most discerning drivers and collectors today!

The 1974 Triumph TR-6 Roadster featured here is finished in the stunning and highly sought after color combination of Pimento Red over a Chestnut interior. This particular example has been meticulously maintained from new and is a highly sought after early 1974 model. As such this is the final version of the TR6’s to have the lower front bumper profile with the turn signal indicators still mounted to the body below the grille; features that would disappear midway through 1974 model production. A mere 46,335 miles are present on the odometer; a number which is believed to reflect the total mileage accrued from new. This TR-6 now performs as well as it presents and is sure to bring many years of enjoyment to its future caretaker. We are proud to offer this 1974 Triumph TR-6 Roadster to the most astute collector, investor or enthusiast who appreciates the performance of these proper British sports cars. Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013, 16% in 2014 and 17% in 2015 while posting gains of 467% over the last 10 years. Ready to make an investment that you can actually enjoy? Please contact one of our expert sales consultants for more information. They will be happy to give you a complete walk-around, supply you with a more detailed description and answer any questions you may have. Buy with confidence.
