  • The 1969 Excalibur SS Series I Roadster featured here is finished in the stunning factory color combination of red over a black interior and matching convertible top. This particular example was purchased new by a General Motors Fisher Body Supervisor. In 1974 the car was purchased by a meticulous long-term owner who entrusted the SS Roadster to his stepson after his passing. This Excalibur presents wonderfully, showcasing largely original paint and interior. It has acquired less than 2,000 miles in the past 44 years with the odometer currently reading 10,447 actual miles. During its decades of single family ownership, meticulous care was giving to maintain drivability while preserving originality, and all required parts were sourced through Excalibur. We are proud to offer this exceptional 1969 Excalibur SS Series I Roadster to the most particular collector, investor or enthusiast who appreciates low mileage and highly original condition. Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013, 16% in 2014 and 17% in 2015 while posting gains of 467% over the last 10 years. HISTORY OF THE EXCALIBUR SERIES I
Taking inspiration from the classic pre-war lines of Mercedes-Benz sports cars, the Excalibur Automobile Corporation was established in 1964 by Brooks Stevens in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They produced what was at the time labeled “The Contemporary Classic” automobile, with classic looks and modern reliability. All cars were built on custom steel frames and utilized a Chevrolet Corvette drive train and suspension. William Stevens, who was Vice President of Excalibur during this period, told the New York Times in 1975 that their product was “for the man or woman who wants a fun machine with antique class.” At its peak Excalibur was the fourth largest automobile manufacturer in the United States with the company producing over 3,200 cars between 1965 and 1989. Their quality and class attracted numerous famous owners including Roberto Duran, Dick Van Dyke, Tony Curtis, Shirley Jones, Sonny and Cher, Dean Martin, Jackie Gleason, Paul Harvey, Jay Leno, Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Foreman, Neile Adams and numerous more. For those seeking the feel of pre-war open air motoring with muscle car performance, the Excalibur offers just that. It is no surprise why examples have been sought-after for years by collectors and enthusiasts, with the Series 1 examples proving to be the most desirable.

    Financing

Finance rates as low as 5.9%.

We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.

We work closely with many banking institutions that understand and recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.

Terms available up to 144 Months
