  • The 1969 Shelby GT500 Convertible featured here is finished in its stunning factory correct color combination of Candyapple Red over a white interior with a matching power folding convertible top. This particular example was completed in April 1969 and sold new through Harr Motor Company to a W.A. Mansell of Massachusetts. Mr. Mansell would own and maintain the Shelby until May 1989 when he sold it to Barry Smith. Smith was the President of Legendary GT Continuation Cars Inc. – the highly respected builder of licensed Shelby Mustangs. Being a close personal friend of Carroll Shelby, Mr. Smith was able to have Carroll sign the passenger sun visor of this particular convertible. GT500 Convertibles from 1969 are known to have been one of Carroll’s favorite models; in fact, Shelby’s Candyapple Red GT500 Convertible sold at a 2008 Barrett-Jackson auction for nearly $750,000! At one point, Carroll reputedly asked Mr. Smith if he would consider donating the Candyapple Red GT500 Convertible the Shelby Automotive Museum. Considering Carroll’s personal affection for this particular model and color combination, it is understandable why Carroll would want another for his museum collection. In 2014 this GT500 Convertible was appraised at $285,000; then in 2015 it was procured by the Shelby Automotive Foundation for use in Carroll Shelby’s Automotive Museum. This Shelby presents wonderfully today; it currently displays only 32,198 miles and is accompanied by an incredible array of documentation including the original dealer invoice from Harr Motor Company, title copy in Barry Smith’s name, an insurance card in the name of the Shelby Automotive Foundation, Elite Marti report, period brochure as well as its owner’s manual. We are proud to offer this incredibly rare 1969 Shelby GT500 Convertible to the most astute collector or investor who appreciates the legacy that Carroll Shelby left on the performance world. Financing

Finance rates as low as 5.9%.

We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.

We work closely with many banking institutions that understand and recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.

Terms available up to 144 Months
