  • By the late 1960’s production of the Maserati Mexico and Quattroporte models began to slow and the factory searched for a similarly shaped, newly styled 4-seater compliment model for the well-received Ghibli. The Maserati Indy made its debut in 1969 and featured a Vignale built body wrapped around the then proven performance of Maserati’s quad-cam V8 engine. Initially in 4.2 liter form, the engine displacement increased twice during production. Minor styling and interior differences distinguish the models from each other. With beautiful lines, seating for four, power steering and plenty of luggage space beneath the rear glass hatch the Indy was a success and 1,104 were built between 1969 and 1975. While the Ghibli offered thrills for the senses, the Indy was a more practical, driver friendly model that was perhaps best described by Journalist Paul Frère as “very fast and very bourgeois.”

1973 introduced the 4900 model with the increased 4.9 liter quad-cam V8 now pushing well over 300 horsepower. The 1973 model also did away with the traditional servo-assisted braking system in favor for Citroën’s proven high pressure pump system. An upgraded air conditioning system was also fitted that placed less stress on the engine and kept the cabin and its passengers cool. Minor styling changes appeared with a redesigned hood grill and refined dashboard that allowed the driver a better line of sight to the instruments. Only 300 of the well featured Indy 4900’s were produced, making them the rarest and most desired Indy model.

The example featured here is finished in rare and desirable Blue Ischia with an impeccably kept Parchment leather interior. This stunning Maserati is among one of the finest examples we’ve had the pleasure of offering in many years. It was recently acquired from a prominent California Museum collection and comes fully documented with its Maserati Classiche, books, original brochures and more. We’re proud to offer this extremely rare late 4.9L Indy to the most sophisticated collector, investor or enthusiast who understands and appreciates this up-and-coming classic. Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013 and posting gains of 395-percent over the last 10-years. Financing

Finance rates as low as 8.9%.

We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.

We work closely with many banking institutions that understand and recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.

Terms available up to 144 Months
