The 1983 DeTomaso Pantera GTS featured here is finished in stunning red over a wonderfully original tan leather interior. This particular example is a rare and desirable GTS model that was not sold new in the United States. It was imported to the U.S. by AmeriSport Inc. and gifted to Carroll Shelby by DeTomaso to encourage him to spearhead, bringing the Pantera back to the U.S. market. Though Carroll Shelby passed away in 2012, the Pantera remained in his personal collection until 2018. Today it presents in highly original condition and only has 7,356 km (the equivalent of 4,571 miles) on the odometer. Its highly original condition, low mileage, and ultimate ownership provenance make this DeTomaso simply the best example that can be found on the market today! We are proud to offer it to the most astute collector, investor, or enthusiast who appreciates low mileage and excellent condition. Ready to make an investment that you can actually enjoy? Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years, with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013, 16% in 2014, and 17% in 2015 while posting gains of 467% over the last 10 years. HISTORY OF THE DETOMASO PANTERA GTS
The DeTomaso Pantera was introduced in 1971. Designed by Tom Tjaarda during his time as Carrozzeria Ghia, the Pantera initially utilized the same mid-engine drivetrain set up as the Mangusta. However, the Pantera featured a steel monocoque design that was incredibly rigid. Ford’s legendary 351 Cleveland V8 was refined for more power, which was transferred through a ZF 5-speed manual transaxle. While the Pantera was originally available through select Lincoln-Mercury dealerships, increasing emissions standards resulted in Ford dropping the model from the U.S. market in 1974. Despite this, DeTomaso would continue to produce the Pantera until 1992 with further refinements as production continued. The Pantera GTS was introduced in 1974 with a more powerful engine courtesy of an increased compression ratio. Interest in mid-engine cars was strong throughout the United States in the early 1980s, and the idea of reintroducing the Pantera to the U.S. market was considered. At this time, DeTomaso gifted two different Panteras to Carroll Shelby in hopes that he would spearhead the reintroduction of the model to the U.S. market. Unfortunately, this idea never came to fruition. However, several later model Panteras were imported to the U.S. during the 1980s by AmeriSport Inc. These examples rarely come to market and are highly sought-after by collectors to this day.

Finance rates as low as 5.9%.
We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.
We work closely with many banking institutions that understand and recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.
Terms available up to 144 Months

Daniel Schmitt & Company has described the above-mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability. However, as with all pre-owned automobiles, the condition is subjective, and we recommend that the potential buyer fly out to inspect, as well as test drive any of our vehicles before finalizing their purchase. If it is not feasible for you to personally perform an inspection, we will gladly help facilitate an inspection by an independent service center of your choice and will make delivery arrangements of the vehicle for this purpose. All vehicles are sold in “AS IS” condition. Extended warranty options are available on most vehicles. Our goal is to provide you with the best service and buying experience as possible. In regards to winning bidders and Buy It Now customers: All winning bidders and Buy It Now bidders are encouraged to fly out and personally inspect the vehicle. Feedback must be left at the time of delivery upon final inspection.
Pertaining to non-eBay winners: Anyone who has provided a deposit but whose purchase is still pending, please note that said vehicle will not be held and is subject to being sold at any time until all contingencies are removed and the purchase order is signed.
The advertised mileage represents the actual miles when the car was posted online. These vehicles are test-driven and actual mileage may vary at the time of sale.
All used vehicles should be assumed to have some degree of wear. We do not manufacture our product. Each vehicle’s brand has its strengths, styles, tendencies, and shortcomings. Despite our best efforts to verify a vehicle’s mechanical condition, we are not able to warranty a manufacturer’s workmanship or a previous owner’s diligence in care of said vehicle. Due to this reason, all vehicles are sold “AS IS”. There are no mechanical guarantees, expressed or implied.
Daniel Schmitt & Co. reserves the right to end the auction at any time.
