1956 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER CLOUD I OWNED BY FRED ASTAIRE
Finished in stunning Dark Green with beautiful matching leather interior surrounded by magnificent Burl walnut woodwork throughout. My family, who owned a Rolls-Royce dealership here in St. Louis, bought this motorcar 31 years ago from Fred Astaire and sold it to its past owner, who restored it to the spectacular condition it is in today! We were fortunate enough to purchase it back from him and offer it again here on eBay. We believe this to be the very best Silver Cloud I on the market today. For all of you who are not familiar, Rolls-Royce no longer exists as it had for nearly 100 years. It is now owned by BMW and no longer being built in Crewe, England and is now being practically being mass produced with many German parts. The care, quality and craftsmanship that went into building this great marquise is far superior to what they are building today. To find an example with such provenance makes this truly an investment of a lifetime. Bid with confidence this might just be one of the best finds on eBay! His father worked for a brewing company in Omaha until around 1905. His mother had always had the vision of being able to move away from Omaha with help from the success of her children. They had their chance to move when Fred’s father unexpectedly got let go from his brewery job. They headed to New York to start their dream. Fred and his older sister Adele Astaire began taking dance, singing, and other classes to fine tune their talents. The children started to do shows shortly after that and got noticed by many people because of their talents. While doing these smaller places for a short time they had gotten a contract that allowed them to play in the famous Orpheum through out the United States. They took full advantage of that and began touring the country. After the tour they decided to take a break from performing to sharpen their skills, and the fact that Adele had grown about three inches taller then her younger brother. The late 1910’s the began to start performing again with more skill, and a stage presence then they had in the past. In the 1920’s they started appearing on Broadway, and on stages in London. By this point Fred’s dancing was surpassing the talents of his sister. In the late 1920’s and early 1930’s Fred’s tap dancing was considered the best in the world. The duo split up when Adele married her fist husband, she married a son of the Duke Of Devonshire. Fred went on to be successful on Broadway as a solo act. Fred Astaire went on to film around 1933 appearing in a musical film called Dancing Lady with Joan Crawford. After that he appeared with Ginger Rogers in a show called Flying Down to Rio. Although Fred was apprehensive about joining another dancing duo because he recently just left a duo with his sister. But once they started working together he started to change his mind. They ended up shooting ten films together. He went on to star in many different films, and was considered a huge success in the realm of dancing, singing, and all together performing.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.
We work closely with many banking institutions that understand and recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.
