  • The 356 was created by Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche, son of Ferdinand Porsche Senior. Originally conceived as a small, lightweight sports car that shared the design characteristics of the Porsche-designed Volkswagen Beetle that was developed before World War II. Believed to have taken its name from being the three hundred and fifty-sixth Porsche design, the 356 was the first automobile to bear the Porsche name. Production began in 1948, with the first cars being built with aluminum bodies and constructed in Austria; production eventually switched to Germany after Porsche contracted Reutter Coachworks to build the 356 bodies. In 1951, the 356 took a class win at LeMans, and thanks to the efforts of U.S. Importer, Max Hoffman, the Porsche brand had won over motoring enthusiasts from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Of all the 356 variants one of the most coveted is the Reutter-bodied Cabriolet. While available during the entire 356 productions, most quickly point out that the Reutter lines compliment the first generation 356A the best. The low-sitting headlamps and bumpers give a particularly sporty appearance, especially with the Cabriolet top in the lowered position. These stunning design elements ensure the collectability and the desirability of the Reutter 356A Cabriolet for years to come.

The magnificent 1959 Porsche 356A Cabriolet by Reutter featured here is finished in rare and desirable medium ivory over a deep red leather interior and tan folding convertible top. This incredible motorcar has been comprehensively restored with no expense spared and is one of only 447 built for 1959. The car is accompanied by a Porsche certificate of authenticity confirming its pedigree in production and a factory Kardex. Being finished in its original factory color combination, retaining its original matching numbers engine, and receiving a high-quality restoration make this the perfect example to add to any premier collection. Very seldom do we come across the Porsche Cabriolet that is restored to this extremely high level; we are proud to offer what we believe to be one of the very best 356A Cabriolets on the market today. For the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best!!

    Financing

Finance rates as low as 8.9%.

We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.

We work closely with many banking institutions that understand and recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.

Terms available up to 144 Months
